Since creating her first boat for Oriel Canvas Helen has been invited to exhibit a range of boats for a variety of venues. These include the Made in Roath Festival, 'Out of Nature' Newport House, Hereford, 'Art in the Garden' Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Hampshire, The Blue Lagoon Festival, and The Riverfront Arts Centre, Newport.
Helen's boats act as props envolking differing meanings and feelings when placed in different settings/seasons/ and times of day. They can simply act as subtle interventions in the landscape, being aesthetically pleasing and adding curisority. They are therapeutic to make and symbolise a journey both physically and spiritually. They were a focus of discussion about 'feelings' for clients from the Mental Health Charity 'The Cartshed' during my residency at 'Out of Nature'. Herefordshire College of Art's art students created a performance around my boats as part of one of their modules during the 'Out of Nature' Exhibition.
'Dream Boat' is in the private art collection of Mr WM Gibbs who was a buyer and trustee of the Brecknock Art Fund. Artist Clare Parry-Jones bought "Bobby Boat' which she uses in her ritualistic performances, in Wales and abroad.
